I’m excited to announce a schedule of classes I’ll be teaching for the summer of 2019!
The classes will be held in my home, where I’ve set up a bright, air-conditioned, and ergonomically-correct work area that can seat up to six comfortably. Refreshments will be provided, including the usual coffee, tea and cold drinks, and cookies and/or cake, of course, because we all need cookies and cake.
Included at no additional cost will be Topolina, the official quilt dog, who promises to behave (but I never really expect her to keep her word — if you’ve met her, you’ll understand).
Of course, when you sign up for a class, you will receive my advice and encouragement as well as instruction. There are additional perks as well: my enormous fabric stash will be available to you, enabling you to enhance your own fabric choices at extremely reasonable prices (ranging from $9 to $11 per yard). Also, as I now have wholesale access to the Aurifil Supply Closet, (Yipee!) I will be offering neutral shades of my favorite thread, 50 weight Aurifil, at only $9 per large 1,422 yard spool.
Please bring a bagged lunch along with the supplies listed. We will take a half-hour break for lunch. When you call to reserve your place in the class, I will email a supply list to you.
I will also continue to provide private lessons at my home or yours. I’ve been enjoying the opportunity that private at-home lessons give me to be able to teach in a calm and inviting space where there are no interruptions, disruptions or distractions. I’m pretty sure that group lessons will be just as pleasant!

Beginning Quilting: Learn the basics of contemporary quiltmaking using quick, time saving techniques while creating a beautiful sampler quilt top. Class will run for four weeks.
Weekday Dates: Thursday, June 13, July 11, Aug. 8 and Sept. 12.
Weekend Dates: Saturday, June 15, July 13, Aug. 10 and Sept. 14.

Free Motion without Fear: Does the phrase “free motion” strike fear in your heart? Have you taken basic machine quilting classes but just can’t seem to get the hang of free motion quilting? Then this class is for you! Using simple exercises designed to loosen you up, I will help you overcome your trepidations, and rid you of that awful fear! Skill level: Confident Beginner to Intermediate. This is a one-day, six-hour workshop. Please choose only one of the dates!

Introduction to Improvisational Piecing: Using only a rotary cutter (and no ruler) you’ll follow your heart instead of a pattern to create a one-of-a-kind quilt top. I will gently guide you as you let your intuition lead the way towards a free-flowing quilt of your own design. Skill level: Confident Beginner to Intermediate.
